WINE BISTRO DINNER ON WEDS APR 14

Are you tired of being cooped up at home like it’s still 2020?Well we are too!  So now that more people are getting their Covid vaccine shots, we are ready to have a real live, in-person event!  
Back by popular demand, its the Wine Tasting Dinner at the Wine Bistro on Lane Avenue!  Our Spring date will be Wednesday, April 14 at 6:30 pm.  Seating will be very limited, and masks are still required until you are seated for dinner.
So get your reservation in early!  Parking is available around the Wine Bistro, behind the building (very limited), or on the street, or also across the street in the Lane Ave Shopping Center. 
The chef will provide an amazing 4-course dinner with wines paired to complement each serving.

President & Provost’s Cultural Arts Series

You are invited to participate in a special virtual event on Wednesday, March 24, at 5 pm.  The OSU President & Provost’s Cultural Arts Series will present Dr. Robin DiAngelo, author and educator, as part of their program of artists, scholars and professionals who discuss and exemplify inclusive excellence thru diversity.

VOLUNTEER AT MID-OHIO FOOD BANK

Join us for another Community Service days as we volunteer at the Mid-Ohio Food Bank on Saturday, Jan 23.  We will be assisting shoppers in the pantry from 9 am to 12:30 pm, so you would need to arrive by 8:45 am to get instructions.  The pantry is located at 3960 Brookham Drive, in Grove City.  A map with details will be sent to you, when you RSVP. Social distancing and sanitizing safety practices will be in place.

Alumni Club “Pausing” in December

In the interest of the health and safety of all our members, we are pausing all in-person Alumni Club activities for Franklin County for the month of December, including the Ladies Holiday Brunch and the monthly leadership team meeting.

We hope to resume monthly meetings as well as club events, such as our scheduled community service day, in January. 

We hope you will all stay safe and healthy for the rest of this holiday season.

BOOK CLUB DINNER WITH API SOCIETY

Our book club dinner date with the OSU Asian-Pacific Islander Alumni Society was cancelled in March, so we are setting a new date to meet!  Now you have time to review the book (to remember what you read in the spring!).

We will discuss the memoir written by Aarti Shahani called “Here We Are: American Dreams, American Nightmares.”  It is the story of a family who came to the US from India in the 1980’s, dealing with being undocumented, obtaining their green cards, the unforeseen obstacles that propelled them into years of disillusionment and heartbreak, and the strength of a family determined to stay together. 

Our alumni club will pick up the tab for Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 pm, when we meet with the Asian- Pacific Islander Alumni Society that evening at the Hunan Lion restaurant (2038 Crown Plaza Drive, Columbus). The author has agreed to join us by Zoom call to discuss the book!

VIDEO CHAT WITH MAURICE HALL NOV 17

 We are joining with Tuscarawas County OSU Alumni for their presentation of Maurice Hall, former OSU football star (member of the 2002 national championship team) who is now pursuing his acting, writing, and directing career in Hollywood.  He has appeared in several popular tv shows on major networks, and also wrote and directed programs for Amazon Prime.

Maurice’s production company, “Mo-tivation Unlimited,” centers on five principles, Faith, Persistence, Work Ethic, Healthy Living and Education.

This live video presentation will be on Tuesday, Nov 17, at 6:30 pm.  Q&A will be available by “chat” function on Zoom.  There is no cost to participate, but you must pre-register by emailing us at: OSUAlumniFranklinCounty@yahoo.comYou will be sent login information for the program when it becomes available in early November.

LADIES HOLIDAY BRUNCH DEC 5

It’s the event all the ladies wait for each year!!!Saturday, December 5, take a break from the holiday rush and join your fellow Buckeye women for our festive annual brunch. The fun starts at 11 am, and this year we will again be at the Brio Italian Grille at Polaris Mall.  We have a private room reserved for our members, and valet parking is available. This is a great event for you to bring a friend who may be interested in learning more about our club.
As usual we will have a great meal, wonderful mimosas, and terrific gifts for everyone who attends!  We’ve all had a tough year, so we deserve to have a little fun this season.

WINE BISTRO DINNER WEDS OCT 21

Another event which got cancelled in the wake of the quarantine is our club favorite Wine Tasting dinner at the Wine Bistro on Lane Avenue in April. So we have re-scheduled this event for Wednesday, October 21, from 6:30 to 8 pm. 

Due to limits on the number of people allowed to gather, we cannot take any additional reservations for this event now.  Those of you who told us to keep you on the list for when the event is rescheduled, you will receive an email to confirm your availability on the new date. If multiple people cancel and we have available seats, we will advertise them to the rest of the membership.

The author has agreed to call in to our dinner event to join the conversation!
