Please consider joining us on as we celebrate the re-opening of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. We will be organizing a guided tour on Saturday, May 22, at 1:00 pm.  This amazing facility is a national monument, on par with the ones you may have visited in Washington DC.  It was the dream of our late Senator and astronaut John Glenn, for this museum to be built here in Ohio.

The tour guides will break us into small groups to maintain social distancing, and you are also welcome to walk thru the exhibits on your own, if you don’t want to stay with the group. There are displays, videos, interactive presentations, and so much else to see and do!  If you want to learn more about the museum, their website is

Alumni Club “Pausing” in December

In the interest of the health and safety of all our members, we are pausing all in-person Alumni Club activities for Franklin County for the month of December, including the Ladies Holiday Brunch and the monthly leadership team meeting.

We hope to resume monthly meetings as well as club events, such as our scheduled community service day, in January.

We hope you will all stay safe and healthy for the rest of this holiday season.

Our book club dinner date with the OSU Asian-Pacific Islander Alumni Society was cancelled in March, so we are setting a new date to meet!  Now you have time to review the book (to remember what you read in the spring!).

We will discuss the memoir written by Aarti Shahani called “Here We Are: American Dreams, American Nightmares.”  It is the story of a family who came to the US from India in the 1980’s, dealing with being undocumented, obtaining their green cards, the unforeseen obstacles that propelled them into years of disillusionment and heartbreak, and the strength of a family determined to stay together.

Our alumni club will pick up the tab for Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 pm, when we meet with the Asian- Pacific Islander Alumni Society that evening at the Hunan Lion restaurant (2038 Crown Plaza Drive, Columbus). The author has agreed to join us by Zoom call to discuss the book!

Please Email us (include your name and phone number) at  to let us know you still wish to participate, so we can send you details about the dinner as it approaches.  If you have questions, please contact Mary at 614-323-5379.

We are joining with Tuscarawas County OSU Alumni for their presentation of Maurice Hall, former OSU football star (member of the 2002 national championship team) who is now pursuing his acting, writing, and directing career in Hollywood.  He has appeared in several popular tv shows on major networks, and also wrote and directed programs for Amazon Prime.

Maurice’s production company, “Mo-tivation Unlimited,” centers on five principles, Faith, Persistence, Work Ethic, Healthy Living and Education.

This live video presentation will be on Tuesday, Nov 17, at 6:30 pm.  Q&A will be available by “chat” function on Zoom.  There is no cost to participate, but you must pre-register by emailing us at: OSUAlumniFranklinCounty@yahoo.comYou will be sent login information for the program when it becomes available in early November.

Another event which got cancelled in the wake of the quarantine is our club favorite Wine Tasting dinner at the Wine Bistro on Lane Avenue in April. So we have re-scheduled this event for Wednesday, October 21, from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Due to limits on the number of people allowed to gather, we cannot take any additional reservations for this event now.  Those of you who told us to keep you on the list for when the event is rescheduled, you will receive an email to confirm your availability on the new date. If multiple people cancel and we have available seats, we will advertise them to the rest of the membership.
