In the Woody Hayes tradition of “paying it forward,” the OSU Alumni Club of Franklin County regularly seeks out opportunities to provide community service to local organizations who are serving others in need.
Star House is a safe haven for homeless teens and college-age students, which was originally sponsored by the OSU College of Education. It is now an independent facility which relies on volunteers to continue their services.
We will be assisting them in their donation warehouse on Saturday, November 2, from 11 am to 1 pm. If you can spare a few hours that day, please join us! You can sign up by simply emailing us at OSUAlumniFranklinCounty@yahoo.com with your name, phone #, and email address. We will send you directions and details.

Don’t forget to save your leftover Halloween candy, or buy an extra bag for us!! The Franklin County OSU Alumni Club will be putting together goodie bags again this year for students. Candy, gum, pencils, any small items you think a college kid would appreciate, to help stay awake while studying for fall semester exams — bring it to us!
We will collect items at our next two meetings, Weds, Oct. 9 and Nov. 13, or
you can contact us to arrange a drop off or pick up. We will be packing
the bags immediately following our November 13 meeting. The packing
process takes less than an hour if we have enough hands to help. Then
we will schedule a night in early December just before exams to deliver
them to the dorm. This has to be arranged with the resident advisor for
that hall, so we do not have an exact date yet.
You are welcome to participate in any of the three steps – gathering supplies, packing the bags, or delivering. Just send us an email or call to let us know what you can do.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at 6 pm, at the Alumni House, we’re going to provide pizza and sides for dinner, and then observe a terrific presentation about our city. Learn about:
A long-lost, world-class amusement park … huge replicas of the world’s biggest wonders … a 1903 stage play with eight galloping horses. Columbus has had its share of odd attractions over the years. And scandals, too – the fake drug that led to the formation of the Food and Drug Administration … the 19th century pharmacist who loved to sunbathe nude atop his castle … the early visit of an airship that led to a riot. And many curiosities are still with us today – a neighborhood with 50 Frank Lloyd Wright-style homes … a blind high school marching band … a company that makes burglar-proof burial vaults. Columbus Uncovered reveals dozens of the most-unusual chapters in our city’s history. You’ll find them all fascinating.
Sign up on our website today for just $10/person!
If you prefer to send a check instead of paying online, make it payable to OSU Alumni Club of Franklin County, and mail to Leyla Hawkins, 1149 Tillicum Drive, Worthington, OH 43085.
