Cocktails at the Conservatory – November 3

We’re excited to announce our joining with the Franklin Park Conservatory for an event this coming November 3. “Cocktails at the Conservatory” is an opportunity for our alumni to participate in the facility’s horticultural, educational and social mission while providing a unique, educational happy hour set in their gorgeous gardens.

Cocktails at the Conservatory is the final event of the series this year of themed cocktail parties with a rotating cast of local drink & food vendors, live music, activities and more. Five dollars from every ticket sold will also support the Conservatory’s mission. Programs like Teen Corps – which teaches local teens skills through hands-on gardening, urban farming and running a Farmers Market stand – benefit immensely from support gained at these events.

For tickets to this event, please go directly to the conservatory’s website to order.

FOOTBALL TICKET RAFFLE

It’s time for our annual raffle of our Presidents Club football tickets!  The OSU Alumni Club of Franklin County is making all of our seats available again this year in our raffle. All money raised goes directly to our Scholarship fund to help a future Buckeye.

These are great seats again this year, in section 16A with seatbacks. Tickets for the raffle are $5 for 1 chance, $25 for 6 chances or $50 for 13 chances. Order now!  If your name is drawn, you will have the right to purchase our seats at face value.

We are not allowed to sell the raffle tickets on our website. Send checks (payable to “OSU Alumni Club of Franklin County”) to Jerry Vance, 5625 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026. There will be two drawings:  One on August 26 for the first 5 games of the season, and the second drawing on October 12 for the last three games.  Everyone is welcome to attend the drawings. All Home Games Are Available

Doing Our Part to Keep Columbus Beautiful!

Our community service project this fall will be held on Saturday, October 15 (bye week, no football) at Tuttle Park, 240 W. Oakland Avenue, Columbus 43201, just north of campus.  This conservation project will take place from 9 am to 12 noon.  It is mostly focused on invasive species removal to clear the walking paths, but litter clean-up is also an option.  We may be joined by other groups of OSU Alumni.

This is a family-friendly event, and we know many high school students are required to perform community service events during the school year, so feel free to bring them along!  Also, volunteers will be treated to lunch at Jack & Benny’s at the end of the project!

If you are able to participate, please reply to Karyn Johnson to sign up (englanke@yahoo.com).  We need to give a headcount to the Parks department.  Karyn will send you a map with directions and answer any other questions you may have.

You should plan to bring your own gardening / outdoor work gloves.  The Recreation and Parks Department will provide all other supplies and tools. They also strongly recommend you wear LONG pants (not shorts), solid shoes (no open toes) that may get muddy, and bring sunscreen and bug spray.

Please print out the attached waiver and complete it before the event.  You can return it by email to Karyn Johnson (englanke@yahoo.com) or bring it with you to the event.  Thank you for supporting our Community Service efforts!

WINE BISTRO DINNER ON WEDS OCT 19

Our fan-favorite semi-annual Wine Tasting Dinner at the Wine Bistro on Lane Avenue will be on Wednesday, October 19 at 6:30 pm.

The chef is creating a special menu for us, to go along with Wines from Around the World, and the Bistro’s new manager Sarah will be sharing her knowledge of the wines and welcoming our club.

There is limited seating available, so get your reservation in early!  Parking is available around the Wine Bistro, behind the building (very limited), or on the street, or also across the street in the Lane Ave Shopping Center.  They will provide an amazing 4-course dinner, with wines paired to complement each serving. You’ll be able to order bottles of the wines you enjoy right after dinner!

Plan to arrive by 6 pm for best parking and seating, and to socialize before the dinner begins!  Deadline to sign up is Friday October 14.  Questions, please contact Mary at 614-323-5379.  Hope to see you there!

How Many Tickets?

Tailgate with Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach) Buckeyes!

Our fellow Buckeyes from the Virginia Beach area will join us for a co-hosted Tailgate prior to the Wisconsin game on Sept 24.  We do not have any tickets to this game, so you’re on your own if you want to go to the game.  But we will offer our usual fantastic tailgate feast prior to this game, to share with the Hampton Roads club members.  Come join us and make new friends!

Game time has not yet been announced, but we generally start our tailgates three hours prior to game time.  We close up a half hour before the game so we can be in the stadium before the band arrives.

TAILGATE PARTY FOR TOLEDO GAME

     (Marching Band Alumni Day)

Football season will be here before we know it!   We will hold our annual tailgate for the Toledo game on Sept. 17, because that is also Alumni Marching Band day.  Come see 800+ TBDBITL alumni perform the quadruple Script Ohio!

TAILGATE LUNCH FOR OSU POLICE

Come help us Serve Those Who Serve!  On Tuesday, Sept. 13, our alumni club will show appreciation for the OSU Police Dept by serving lunch for all the officers as well as their administrative staff. This event was extremely popular last year and the police department is glad to have us back.

We’ll be grilling and serving a “Tailgate” style lunch, so we need a few folks to help set it up, and a few to clean up after. Join us for this great opportunity to give back to those who serve and protect the students and staff of our great campus!

We’ll have two shifts: we need some people to help set-up and serve from 12:30 to 3 pm, and some people to serve then help clean up from 3 to 5:00 pm

Sign up to participate by emailing us at (OSUAlumniFranklinCounty@yahoo.com) with your name, phone # and email address, and which shift you’re available for.

Come help us say “Thank You!” to these hard-working individuals!
